Both teams had their chances, but the Alloway Halberds eventually prevailed at Ballpark of Alloway.
The Alloway Halberds got a strong performance from pitcher Luis Torres, who stymied the Athletic Club KC offense en route to a 2-1 win at Ballpark of Alloway. In 8 innings, Torres surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Marcos Sarmiento got the save, his 14th in 17 chances.
The Halberds got a big at-bat from shortstop Juan Salinas. For the game, Salinas went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 32nd hit of the season gave Alloway a 2-1 lead.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Salinas told the Alloway Citizen.
