Cattlemen Lose to Dodgers, 3-0
|
The Brooklyn Dodgers got a strong performance from pitcher Eddie Kop, who stymied the Ft. Worth offense en route to a 3-0 win at Ebbetts Field. The winning pitcher was Kop, now 3-5. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 9. Sjaak Bonne converted his 9th save in 9 tries.
The Dodgers got a big at-bat from right fielder Avon Barksdale. For the game, Barksdale went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Brooklyn a 2-0 lead.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Kop told the Brooklyn Chronicle.
At 27-31, Brooklyn is in 7th place in the Premier League.
