Late Rally by Halberds Secures Win
|
The Alloway Halberds did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Royse City Targaryens at Ballpark of Alloway. Nobody did more than pitcher Antonio Godfrey, who captured player of the game honors. Alloway bumps their record to 38-40 with the win.
Had José Zarate not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Zarate hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Halberds.
In postgame comments to the Alloway Citizen, Zarate said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
