Halberds Clip Golden Cranes in Tight Contest
|
The Alloway Halberds faced a tough opponent in Santa Barbara pitcher Ted Thompson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Alloway by a final score of 4-3. Thompson went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The win was credited to Marcos Sarmiento in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Enrique García took the loss. Alloway is now 14-14, Santa Barbara 14-14.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Alloway third baseman Jordan Hollins, facing Enrique García, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Halberds the 4-3 win.
"This was a good win," said Hollins.
