The Gryfindor Braves got a stellar performance from pitcher Gabe Stephenson, who handcuffed the Athletic Club KC offense en route to a 5-2 win at Cayuse Ballpark. Stephenson went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 1. His record improves to 1-1. Suezo Amano earned the save, his 3rd, for the Braves.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Eduardo Molina didn't flinch. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and Athletic Club KC trailing 3-2, Molina retired Manuel Domínguez to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Molina, with a wink.
The defending champion Braves are off to a horrible start to the season, notching only their 7th win in 19 games.
