Halberds Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Doubledays
|
The Alloway Halberds defeated the Tremont Doubledays, 6-3. Earning player of the game honors was right fielder Carlos De Jesús, who went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Alloway reliever Shi-lin Li was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Titus Parson took the loss for Tremont. Matthew Fallows closed the door for Alloway, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Had Jordan Hollins not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hollins hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Halberds.
When asked about his performance after the game, De Jesús said: "Like everyone else, I'm just doing my job."
Losses have been few and far between for the Doubledays so far this season. Their record drops to 6-2.
