The Alloway Halberds got a strong performance from pitcher Bob Browning, who stymied the Royse City offense en route to a 3-2 win at Ballpark of Alloway. In 7 innings, Browning surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Matthew Fallows closed the game out for Alloway, earning his 1st save.
The Halberds got a big at-bat from first baseman José Zarate. For the game, Zarate was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 3rd double of the season gave Alloway a 2-0 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Zarate said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Alloway, now 3-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
