With designated hitter Holden Nolan leading the charge, the Jersey City Tritons defeated the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves, 7-4, at Thunderbirds Stadium. Nolan, who is rated as the 90th best prospect by BNN, was 2-4 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times. Chris Sommer, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Hotspur Reserves to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 5. Mat Tengku earned the save, his 2nd, for the Tritons.
Early in the game, Nolan had a run-scoring double for Jersey City. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Tritons on top, 3-2.
"It was a solid team effort," said Nolan after the game.
With the win, Jersey City goes to 2-3.
