Longnecks Slip Past Plymouth, 5-4
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Calvin Wilms, the Bloomington Longnecks defeated the Plymouth Rocks, 5-4. Wilms went 2-3 with 2 home runs for the Longnecks. Bloomington reliever Vicente Escamilla picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Luis Arreola absorbed the loss. The win gives the Longnecks a record of 2-0.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Bloomington shortstop Chet Hollis, facing Luis Arreola, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Longnecks the 5-4 win.
"We've got a great group of guys," Hollis said, "and we're having fun right now."
