The Calgary Lynx opened their 2031 season with a disappointing 10-3 loss to the Salt Lake City Buzz at Lynx Stadium. Left Fielder Juan Rivas was a big part of the win for Salt Lake City. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Barney Starr got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Lynx to 3 earned runs on 5 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3.

Making an impact for Salt Lake City was second baseman Orlando Casillas. He drilled a 2-run single in the top of the fourth. For the game, Casillas was 1-4 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI.

"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Salt Lake City manager Allen Bartlett.
