Salem pitcher Ollie McDaniell did his part in helping his team beat the Myrtle Beach Mermen, 4-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Salem is now 50-37, 2½ games up in the Silver AA.

The Misfits got a big at-bat from shortstop Jesús Lazcano. For the game, Lazcano was 1-5 with a home run. In the top of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Salem a 2-1 lead.

"I really like what we did out there today," McDaniell said after the game.
