Rainbow Mermaids Come Up Short at Boston
|
Behind a solid performance from second baseman Ulbert Sutkamp, the Boston Patriots defeated the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 4-3. Sutkamp was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs for the Patriots. Boston is now 17-31, Northern Virginia 28-20.
Stanley Belote had a big run-scoring single for the Patriots in the bottom of the second inning. With Boston trailing 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Raúl Gómez and stroked the single to right-center. It was his 40th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Patriots ahead, 3-2.
Belote told a Boston Daily reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
