The Myrtle Beach Mermen defeated the Salem Misfits, 4-3, in USSL Double A action at Tennille Grounds, with Myrtle Beach pitcher Chad Li named player of the game. Bob Christison earned the save, his 22nd. Myrtle Beach occupies 9th place in the Silver AA at 39-46.

Had Raymond Dudzinski not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Dudzinski hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Mermen.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Salem manager . "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
