Miners Mow Down Sixshooters, 10-2
|
Andrew Cantrell made an impact in the 10-2 Marquette win over Westwood. Cantrell, who is tied for 8th in the SAA in bases on balls with 49, went 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Melvin Tiburcio was the winner. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Marquette is now 46-38, Westwood 42-42.
Asko Riikonen hit a bases-clearing double off Ray Mangas in the bottom of the first, which put the Miners in front, 4-1. In addition to the double, Riikonen had 1 single, while going 2 for 5.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Riikonen said.
