Mermen Fall Short at Irving
|
The Irving Blue Sox overcame a good performance by Myrtle Beach right fielder Félix Castellanos to knock off Myrtle Beach, 5-4, at Blue Sox Ballpark. Castellanos went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. Irving now has a 3-game win streak.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 19th inning, when Irving right fielder Octávio Beltzán, facing Herman Guevera, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Blue Sox the 5-4 win.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Irving manager John Parkinson.
