Seawolves Topple Lionhearts, 5-3
|
The Long Island Seawolves beat the Lannister United Lionhearts, 5-3, at Lionheart Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher José Magana, who captured player of the game honors. He was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Héctor Ramos, who threw 109 pitches over 6.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits. Vinny Mariani picked up the save, his 6th.
Magana contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Long Island in the top of the seventh. With his team trailing 2-1, Magana took a fastball from Forest Stanley and stroked the home run to left. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Seawolves to leap in front, 4-2.
"It feels good to get this one," Magana told the Long Island Today.
The Seawolves now have a record of 31-45 with the win over Lannister United.
