Hotspur, Hamm Blank Panama City
|
Wes Hamm subdued the Panama City Piranhas, 7-0, pitching a 5-hit gem for the Phoenix Hotspur at Chase Field.
"He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Phoenix skipper Michael Esposito said afterward.
Hamm registered 5 strikeouts and issued 1 walk in his superb performance.
"We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Panama City manager Matthew Rubo after the defeat.
So far this year Hamm has made 11 starts, tossed 85 innings, struck out 63 batters and walked 17. His record is 6-3 with a 3.60 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .243 batting average.
