Blue Sox Sneak Past Sixshooters, 2-1

The Irving Blue Sox got a magnificent performance from pitcher Rich McLean, who muffled the Westwood offense en route to a tight 2-1 Blue Sox win at Blue Sox Ballpark. Irving reliever Kerry Tenner was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Luis Núñez took the loss for Westwood. Irving, at 31-34, occupies 8th place in the Silver AA.
Had Mike Clifton not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Clifton hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Blue Sox.
"I liked his command," said Irving manager John Parkinson. "Rich was throwing strikes."
