Seawolves Go Down to Defeat, 6-3
|
The Marquette Miners topped the Long Island Seawolves, 6-3, in USSL Double A action at Ballpark of Remsen. The player of the game was Marquette pitcher Gerald Bolton. Bolton, now 5-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Félix Santiago, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save.
It could have been a different outcome for Marquette, had it not been for Sameen Shaw, the 23-year old shortstop . Shaw contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Marquette up, 5-3.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Bolton.
Marquette is now 31-25.
