Big Day for Gómez as Blue Sox Down Misfits, 9-0
|
The exploits of second baseman Enrique Gómez helped the Irving Blue Sox defeat the Salem Misfits, 9-0. Gómez went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Irving reliever Francisco García was credited with the win, to go to 1-1. Stefan Famintsyn took the loss for Salem. Irving, at 25-27, occupies 9th place in the Silver AA.
Gómez put Irving up, 8-0, when he hit a 3-run home run off Stefan Famintsyn in the bottom of the fourth. His 2nd home run of the season helped the Blue Sox capture the win.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Gómez.
