Sixshooters Get Close Win Over Lionhearts
|
Westwood withstood an impressive performance by Lannister United first baseman Chong-yee Au-Yong to defeat the Lionhearts, 6-5, at Lionheart Field. Au-Yong went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Westwood reliever Pedro Ortíz was the winner. His record is now 4-1. Harry Mander took the loss. Jorge Travieso earned the save for Westwood, his 6th.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With one out and a runner on 1st, the batter, Jesús Ruano, hit a single. It helped Westwood seize the win.
In postgame comments to the Westwood Bulletin, Ruano said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Westwood currently is in 7th place in the Silver AA at 20-21.
