Miners Cut Down Lionhearts, 7-4
|
Marquette and Lannister United duked it out at Lionheart Field and the Miners came out victorious.
The Marquette Miners beat the Lannister United Lionhearts, 7-4, at Lionheart Field. The Miners got a fine performance from first baseman Ted Tullo, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 3 times. Marquette reliever Felipe Pereira was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Currito Melena took the loss. Picking up the save was Barry Mullen, his 5th.
Marquette left fielder Mike Elzey helped the Miners to the win. In the top of the second inning, the 23-year old center fielder stroked a 2-run single. For the game, Elzey was 2 for 5 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Elzey told a Marquette News reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
Losses have been few and far between for the Lionhearts so far this season. Their record drops to 13-7.
