Behind a solid performance from second baseman Henry Madore, the Myrtle Beach Mermen defeated the Glendale Herons, 8-4. Madore went 2 for 4 with a triple and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Mermen. Gao Mar got the win, improving to 2-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 10 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. The Herons fall to 9-11 and continue their uneven start to the 2031 season.
Madore had a game-changing double in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-2 fastball from Kagetoki Matsubara, he banged a bases-clearing double to right, giving the Mermen a 4-3 lead. It was the 2nd double of the year for Madore.
"I felt good up there," said Madore. "I saw the ball well."
