Herons Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Seawolves
|
Glendale starter Alejandro García pitched effectively against the Long Island Seawolves at Ballpark of Remsen. The left-hander led his team to a 5-1 win. García picked up the win for Glendale, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. The save went to Juan Sánchez, his 1st this season.
Had Xu Cheng not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Cheng hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Herons.
"Enjoyed this one," Cheng told the Glendale Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Glendale, now 3-1, has gotten their season off to a good start.
