Victory Pushes Great Lakers Record to 50-43
|
It was a fun time at Lansing Park, where the Brinkley Belugas and Pure Michigan Great Lakers tangled.
The Pure Michigan Great Lakers got a strong performance from pitcher Kazu Shimada, who stymied the Brinkley offense en route to a 4-1 win at Lansing Park. In 8 innings, Shimada surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Andrei-Luiz Frial got the save, his 22nd in 30 chances.
The Great Lakers got a big at-bat from center fielder Yin-reng Hsueh. For the game, Hsueh was 1-2 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 24th double of the season gave Pure Michigan a 1-0 lead.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Hsueh told the Pure Michigan Daily News.
Pure Michigan has now won 3 straight, while the Belugas have lost 3 in a row.
