Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Dodos
|
Well, that's how to end a game in style.
The Vermont Lake Monsters got a superb performance from pitcher Ramón Martínez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Hialeah. The Dodos won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Martínez was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. Hialeah is now 41-51.
The Dodos were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when first baseman Jack Head turned a full count fastball from Santo Velazco into a 2-run double. The walk-off double sent a roar through the crowd and gave Hialeah a thrilling 4-3 win.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Vermont manager Rick Nash said following the tough loss.
