Lake Monsters Subdue Pure Michigan, 6-4
|
Vermont right fielder Edgardo Castro was instrumental in his team's 6-4 win over the Pure Michigan Great Lakers. Castro went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Lake Monsters. Santo Velazco earned his 14th save in 18 chances. Vermont occupies 8th place in the Menard's AAA at 41-49.
Castro contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Vermont in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-3, Castro took a cutter from Luis Bustamante and stroked the home run to right-center. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Lake Monsters to leap in front, 6-4.
"I felt good up there," said Castro. "I saw the ball well."
