Florida left fielder Jorge Díaz was instrumental in his team's 11-2 win over the Brinkley Belugas. Díaz, who is tied for 2nd in the 3AAA in home runs with 18, went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Men. Brian Scalabrine got the win, improving to 7-7. He held the Belugas to 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Pompeyo Davalillo was credited with the save for Florida, his 2nd of the season.
Kyle Vandenbrink took Carlos Peret deep in the top of the second. His 2-run home run put the Men on top, 2-0. In all, Vandenbrink had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 4.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Díaz told the Florida Herald.
Florida is now 34-52. Brinkley is 52-34.
