BC Clip Humpbacks in Tight Contest
|
Houston catcher Phil Dougherty was a significant contributor in his team's 7-4 triumph over the Alaskan Humpbacks. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for Houston. Roosevelt Tuttle, who went 8 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 11 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 5-6. Houston is now 32-48, Alaskan 48-32.
Dougherty had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-2 fastball from Greyfriars Bobby, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the BC a 5-4 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Dougherty.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Dougherty. "And not try to do too much."
