Tight Tilt Goes to Lake Monsters, 4-3
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Álex Bane, but it was good enough for the club to take a 4-3 decision over the Houston BC. Bane, now 3-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 5, and allowing 3 earned runs. The save was credited to Santo Velazco, his 9th.
It could have been a different outcome for Vermont, had it not been for Zelmar Barajas, the speedster . Barajas contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Vermont up, 4-1.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Bane.
With the win over Houston, the Lake Monsters improved to 27-35.
