Dodos Score Late, Top Red Pandas, 6-5
|
The Sioux Falls Red Pandas got a superb performance from third baseman Willis Kirkendall, but the Hialeah Dodos still won the game, 6-5. Kirkendall was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Hialeah is now 27-28. Sioux Falls is 30-25.
Had Andrew Crosby not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Crosby hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Dodos.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Hialeah manager Kyle Besley.
