Timber Hawks Take Down Red Pandas, 5-3
|
Benefiting from Yun-qi Chien's productive game, the Augusta Timber Hawks downed the Sioux Falls Red Pandas, 5-3. Chien went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles for the Timber Hawks. The winner was Bettino Banditelli in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Roberto De La Cruz took the loss. The Timber Hawks now have a mark of 27-26.
Had Bogumil Tiwontschik not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Tiwontschik hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Timber Hawks.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Chien. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
