Moreno Goes Wild, But Belugas Win
|
Pure Michigan first baseman Gilberto Moreno was sensational. He went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Brinkley beat the Great Lakers, 11-10. Moreno was named the player of the game despite the loss. Reliever Rodney Spurr picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Joseph Merle took the loss. Pure Michigan's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
It could have been a different outcome for Brinkley, had it not been for Danilo Mosca, the 28-year old third baseman . Mosca contributed a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put Brinkley up, 11-8.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Mosca.
