The Sioux Falls Red Pandas got a stellar performance from pitcher Zalontae Hillary, who handcuffed the Augusta offense en route to a 5-1 win at Timber Hawks Ballpark. The winning pitcher was Hillary, now 1-0. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Greg Davis closed the door for Sioux Falls, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Valentín Montenegro recorded a big out in the bottom of the seventh. Augusta was trailing 4-1. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Montenegro retired Jeremy Boyter when Boyter flied out.
The loss drops Augusta to 1-1.
