The Houston 1837 BBC got a superb performance from pitcher Roy Alsobrook. Still, it wasn't enough to beat New Orleans. The Voodoo won the game, 5-3. In spite of the loss, Alsobrook was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. Juan Montoya picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-3. He struck out 2 in 6.2 innings. The win takes New Orleans to 8-12.

Had Orlando Velásquez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Velásquez hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Voodoo.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Velásquez.
