The Boston Patriots did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Ft. Worth Cattlemen at Dunkin Donuts Park. Nobody did more than third baseman Jorge Alejándrez, who captured player of the game honors. Lúcio Sánchez, credited with the win, is now 2-3. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings. Earning his 2nd save of the year was José García.
The Patriots got a big at-bat from designated hitter Melvin Castro. For the game, Castro was 1 for 3 with a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 19th hit of the season gave Boston a 3-2 lead.
"I felt good up there," said Castro. "I saw the ball well."
Boston has now won 4 in a row.
