Lakers Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Echo Park starter Nees Stroo pitched effectively against the Buckhead Bowties at Rangers Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a 5-3 win. Stroo, now 1-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 3 earned runs. The Lakers, now 3-10, have not found much traction so far in 2031.
Muroran, Japan-born Kumanosuke Abe came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st and the Lakers trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run home run to left to put Echo Park on top.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Stroo, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
