Fans who gathered at Cloverdale Legion Park saw a good contest between the Montana Pandas and Kingston Township Legion.
Montana beat Kingston Township on the strength of starter Jon Briddon's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 5-3 win. Briddon, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks.
Xavier Vásquez was 1 for 3 with a walk for Montana. The 28-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Fernando Espinosa. It was his 1st walk of the season.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling pretty confident after that win," said Briddon.
The win leaves Montana with a record of 2-2.
