In a tight contest at Rangers Stadium, the Houston 1837 BBC edged the Echo Park Lakers by the score of 7-6. Houston designated hitter Bob Dickerson, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Houston reliever Damien Scudder picked up the win to move to 1-0. Kaluka Wene suffered the loss. Georg von Trapp recorded the save for Houston, his 1st of the season.
Houston took the lead in the top of the eighth when Dickerson hit a run-scoring single. His 5th hit of the season made the score 7-6, Houston.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Dickerson said.
With the win, Houston boosts its record to 1-1.
