Lakers Get Close Win Over 1837 BBC
|
The 2031 season is off to a good start for the Echo Park Lakers. The hometown Lakers dumped the Houston 1837 BBC, 7-5, at Rangers Stadium. Guillermo Coss spearheaded the win. He went 4-5 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 4 times.
Echo Park won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With no outs and Georg von Trapp on the mound for Houston, designated hitter Kumanosuke Abe hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Lakers fans to their feet.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Coss told the Echo Park Observer. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
