Victory Pushes Dutchmen Record to 54-49
|
The New Amsterdam Dutchmen topped the Chicago Gold Sox by the score of 3-1, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Hank Wilder. Wilder was 2-4 with 2 home runs for the Dutchmen. Glenn Butler earned save number 19. The Dutchmen bumped their record to 54-49 with this latest triumph.
The Dutchmen got a big at-bat from third baseman Mario Rivera. For the game, Rivera was 2 for 3 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 69th hit of the season gave New Amsterdam a 2-1 lead.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Wilder, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
