Sánchez Rips New Amsterdam for 5 Hits
|
Nuggets first baseman Javier Sánchez had his way with New Amsterdam pitching today at Nuggets Park and mauled them for 5 hits in 6 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Dutchmen ruined his great day by toppling the Nuggets, 9-7.
"I had a great day, but you've got to give New Amsterdam credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits."
"Oh, we noticed what Sánchez did today," Dutchmen skipper Sal Gaudio said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."
Javier Sánchez doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and struck out in the 11th.
Sánchez is hitting .294 this year with 10 home runs and 47 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .364, 19 walks and scored 25 times.
