Big Day by Sandoval Sparks Lakers Win
|
With second baseman Ismael Sandoval leading the charge, the Echo Park Lakers defeated the Wizarding Express, 12-4, at Rangers Stadium. Sandoval, who is rated as the 63rd best prospect by BNN, went 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. Echo Park starter Mark Collingwood was credited with the win after throwing 105 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 5-6. The Lakers' win now puts them at 27-42.
Stefan Vanderhoof had a big run-scoring single for the Lakers in the bottom of the second inning. With Echo Park leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Gabe Stephenson and stroked the single to center. It was his 69th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lakers ahead, 3-1.
"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Sandoval told the Echo Park Daily News.
