BLOOMINGTON LONGNECKS AT GRYFINDOR BRAVES

Road Win Lifts Bloomington to 2-1 Lead in R1
Despite a great performance by Gryfindor designated hitter Brent van Schoonhoven, the Bloomington Longnecks defeated the Braves by the score of 12-9 at Cayuse Ballpark today. van Schoonhoven went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5 to earn player of the game honors, but could not prevent the Longnecks from moving one game closer to the Round 2. Bloomington now leads the SL AAA Championship 2-1.

Had Daniel Faraday not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Faraday hit a 2-run single. That made the score 10-9, in favor of the Longnecks.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Faraday told the Bloomington Citizen. "It's as simple as that."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Atila Freska for Bloomington and Marv Bradford for Gryfindor.
