Home Field Advantage: Campoverde, Bloomington Open SL AAA Championship with Win
|
The Bloomington Longnecks started the SL AAA Championship in style today, downing the visiting Gryfindor Braves at Lookouts Ballpark by a score of 6-5 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Longnecks right fielder Gabrio Campoverde was named player of the game after he was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.
Had Masafumi Ito not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Ito hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Longnecks.
"We found a way to get it done," Campoverde said.
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Lookouts Ballpark. The scheduled starters for the game are Bradley Roth for the Gryfindor Braves and Nassim El-Badwi for the the Bloomington Longnecks.
