Carmona Blasts Great Lakers, Fog Take Game 3, 8-6
|
The Sunset District Fog needed some last-minute heroics to do it, but ultimately emerged one game away from the Round 2 today. The Fog got took the 8-6 win against the Pure Michigan Great Lakers in a walk-off at Fog Park. Sunset District right fielder Armando Carmona was named player of the game after he slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. The win gives the Fog a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 3L AAA Championship.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Carmona hit a cutter from I-tsing Ts'ong for a 2-run home run. The Fog, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
Carmona said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Fog Park. The scheduled starters for the game are José Juárez for the Pure Michigan Great Lakers and Dave Morse for the the Sunset District Fog.
