Bulls Win, Move to Within 1 Game of Round 2
The Mt. Vernon Bulls moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Bellevue Bruins on the road at Bellevue Field by a score of 5-2. Bulls right-hander Jesús Franco was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Bulls a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 SL A Championship.

Renato Lavado aided the Mt. Vernon cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Franco told the Mt. Vernon News.

Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at Ballpark of Mt. Vernon. Slated to start are Jeff Porter for the Bellevue Bruins and Wop Baars for the the Mt. Vernon Bulls.
