Legion Hammered by Bangert, Fall Further Behind in R1
Buckhead Bowties manager Kerry Hofmeister wasn't expecting much from the rookie playing in his first postseason. Maybe he should have been.

In front of a supportive hometown crowd today, 24-year-old first baseman Derek Bangert humbled the visiting Kingston Township Legion at 5 Paces Park. Bangert hit 2 home runs as the Bowties shut out the Legion by a final score of 7-4, to force a - tie in the best-of- Third League Championship.

San José de Ocoa, Dominican Republic-born Ricardo Cardenas came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st and the Bowties trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run home run to left to put Buckhead on top.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Bangert.
