Pivotal Game Goes to Host BC, 4-0

Game was big. So was Elroy Thompkins.
In leading Philadelphia 1776 to a crucial 4-0 victory over the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum today, the Philadelphia 1776 starter rose to the occasion, tossing 7.1 good innings and earning player of the game honors. Thompkins threw 7 innings of shutout ball as the BC defended their home field to seize a - lead in the best-of- Silver League Championship.
The tension was thick in the top of the sixth inning. With the bases loaded and Northern Virginia trailing 3-0, Elroy Thompkins had to get a big out. On a 1-2 slider, he retired Arlen Joysey, who flied out.
