Still Kicking: D.C. Cut Buckhead Series Lead to - With Late Win
|
The D.C. Divided went into extra innings against the Buckhead Bowties but ultimately moved to within one game of the Round 2 today. The Divided downed the Bowties at 5 Paces Park by a score of 5-4. D.C. right-hander Germán Rodríguez was named player of the game after a solid outing in which he threw 9 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the Divided a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.
The most important at-bat for D.C. came in the top of the 13th inning, when center fielder Julián Salcido stroked a 2-2 fastball to left for a solo home run, putting D.C. up, 5-4.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said D.C. manager Jonathan Gerth.
